Denver County Court is seeking a Clerk of Court to join our diverse and dedicated leadership team. As the largest court in the state of Colorado, the Clerk of Court position is critical to Denver County Court�??s mission and vision of procedural fairness and the administration of justice.
Under general direction of the Court Executive or Presiding Judge, the Clerk of Court manages functional and operational areas including planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the activities of the Court; resolves operational and management issues; and achieves goals while ensuring resources are utilized appropriately.

The DCC
The mission of Denver County Court is to administer justice fairly, efficiently, and effectively; provide excellent customer service, and foster a positive environment where employees enjoy their work. The City and County of Denver�??s third branch of government is comprised of 19 judges, 3 full-time magistrates, and 300 staff members. Case types include state, civil, small claims, traffic, criminal, and other general sessions cases within the City and County of Denver. The Denver County Court proudly serves the community and continually seeks ways to incorporate procedural fairness and evidence-based practices.
The Division
The DCC Administration department includes a leadership team that is dynamic and serves as representatives accountable to the Judges, those who access or intersect with the Court, relevant government entities, community-based organizations, and the public for efficient and effective administration of justice within the constitutional and statutory confines of the law.
The Job
As Clerk of Court, you can expect to:
  • Assume all responsibilities designated to the Clerk of Court in the Colorado Revises Statutes and Denver Revised Municipal Code
  • Develop, implement, supervise, and monitor all guidelines, work procedures, case flow and statistical reporting systems
  • Assist direct reports in establishing goals. Plan, assign, coordinate, and review the work of assigned personnel
  • Serve as liaison and coordinate court operations with representatives of allied government agencies
  • Analyze proposed and new legislation, judicial processes, and procedures for impact on the court
    • Provide legislative updates to appropriate staff as needed
    • Assist Court personnel in developing implementation plans for new legislation
  • Represent the County Court on various committees and workgroups as a participant or leader in a wide variety of local and state-wide projects
  • Support the Court Executive and Deputy Court Executive in the preparation and analysis of court budgets, considerations, and priorities, including writing budget requests and justification
About You
The ideal candidate will have integrity and a strong commitment to public service. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Experience with strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Ability to manage priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement and probem solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skill in planning and organizing

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public, or Judicial Administration; Social Science or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience of management, administration, or judicial fields that must have included two years of supervisory experience
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: Two (2) years of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post high school education
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
